At Kempton of Hermitage, a casual comment became a powerful example of what it means to truly care.
During a resident advisory council meeting, 91-year-old Barbara Pendley casually mentioned that if she had a couple extra hundred dollars, she would love to see Andrea Bocelli in concert. Activities Director Rachel Thomas went home determined to make it happen.
Rachel could not stop thinking about Barbara, a beloved ambassador in the community known for her warmth and involvement. She turned to social media, asking friends if anyone had a connection at Bridgestone Arena, where Bocelli was set to perform. The response was overwhelming. Within days, two tickets and a parking pass were secured through a former teacher’s family connection.
For Rachel, this was never just about a concert. It was about listening closely, valuing every resident, and going far beyond her job description to turn a heartfelt wish into a once-in-a- lifetime memory.
